At RUnit Software, we have successfully applied SMODL in several projects since 2004, and a number of tools have been written for different steps in the development process. These utilities have been collected and bundled in a plugin for Eclipse called Smodl Development Suite, offered free for non-commercial use. Commercial users should contact us to get a license and a support-agreement. Smodl Development Suite is an Eclipse-plugin facilitating fast and simple WebService-development using SMODL modelling. Smodl Development Suite automatically generates code for a WebService based on a SMODL model. Smodl Development Suite can also build (reverse-engineer) a SMODL model from existing Java. Smodl Development Suite provides a run-time engine which drives SOAP 1.1 and 1.2, XML-RPC as described in the specification and JSON-RPC (level 1) bindings for the service. The run-time engine can run standalone, hosted by any servlet-container, in a LAMP stack or in the .NET ASP environment. WSDL describing the SOAP binding is generated dynamically by the run-time engine. Smodl Development Suite generates client-toolkits for a number of platforms, including Java, PHP and C#. This means that consumers of the WebService may get a toolkit for their platform, simplifying the task of integrating with the WebService. Smodl Development Suite is seamlessly integrated with the Eclipse IDE, taking full advantage of the dynamic compilation, code validation and error-reporting of the Eclipse platform.
